Terms & Conditions
Booking & Payment
- Bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed on receipt of a 20% non-refundable deposit.
- Balance due 21 days before the event. Late or missed payments may result in cancellation without refund.
- Group sizes and layouts are set at the time of booking and may be adjusted for safety/operational reason.
Cancellations & Refunds
- Within 21 days of the event: non-refundable.
- If Rowden Sports Ltd must postpone or cancel (e.g., severe weather, safety, staffing, legal/land conditions), we’ll offer a new date or a full refund of fees paid.
Participant Requirements (Age, Supervision & Conduct)
- All participants must follow the safety briefing and the Instructor's directions at all times.
- Minimum age applies; under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult and follow supervision ratios set by instructors on the day.
- Alcohol or drugs before or during shooting is strictly prohibited; anyone under the influence will be refused without refund.
- Closed-toe footwear is required; no loose clothing that could snag.
Mandatory PPE (Hearing & Eye Protection)
- Hearing protection and safety glasses are compulsory for shooters and anyone in/near shooting stands. We will provide PPE or you may bring your own that meets safety standards.
Safe Firearms Handling (Range Rules)
- Guns must be open and empty unless in the stand on the Instructor’s command.
- Load only on the stand/peg, muzzles kept downrange, finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
- Do not move between stands with a loaded gun.
- Use only suitable cartridges for clay target shooting, as advised by our instructors and posted site rules.
- We may inspect firearms and ammunition and refuse any we deem unsafe or unsuitable.
Legal Compliance (Firearms Act)
- Section 21 Firearms Act 1968 applies: prohibited persons must not possess firearms or ammunition.
- Where non-certificate holders participate, activities will be run under the appropriate Firearms Act exemptions (e.g., Section 11(6)) and local police approvals as applicable. Participants must comply with any ID/consent checks.
Insurance
- Rowden Sports Ltd maintains public liability insurance appropriate to clay target activities.
- BASC reference level for clubs/members is up to £10 million public liability, with separate personal accident/PI cover for qualified coaches; our cover is in line with sector norms. Copies available on request.
Health & Medical
- Tell us in advance about any medical conditions or recent injuries that may affect participation.
- We may refuse participation or adjust the session if, in our view, it cannot be conducted safely.
- Follow all instructions regarding protective equipment and layout boundaries.
Environment & Estate Rules
- Please respect the estate, wildlife and signage. Dogs on leads only; some areas may be restricted during shoots.
- Spent hulls and litter must be collected and disposed of in provided receptacles.
- We may specify fibre wads and/or biodegradable clays depending on location and land conditions.
Noise & Neighbours
- We manage layouts, stand orientation and hours to minimise noise impact and comply with planning/estate conditions.
- Participants must adhere to posted shooting times and any staff instruction relating to noise.
Weather, Layout & Operational Changes
- Shooting is an outdoor activity; we’ll operate in typical UK weather. Instructors may pause or modify sessions for safety (e.g., high winds, lightning).
- Layouts/stands may change on the day to maintain safe arcs and shot-fall zones.
Liability
- Participation is at your own risk. Rowden Sports Ltd is not liable for personal injury, loss or damage to property except where caused by our negligence.
- You are responsible for your belongings; secure storage is not guaranteed.
Intellectual Property
- All text, images and materials on Rowden Abbey/Rowden Sports Ltd sites are protected by law. Commercial use requires prior written consent.
Privacy & Data Protection
- We process booking and participation data in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection law. We do not sell personal data.
Changes to Terms
- Rowden Sports Ltd may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The latest version will appear on our website; continued booking/participation indicates acceptance.
Section 21 Disclaimer (Firearms Act 1968)
- It is an offence for a person prohibited by Section 21 to possess a firearm or ammunition. This applies to those previously sentenced to imprisonment, youth custody or detention in a young offenders’ institution for three months or more.
Acceptance
- By booking or participating in activities run by Rowden Sports Ltd, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
